The article analyzes the episode of the Canudos war on the otic of Vila de Belo Monte in relation to its ability to maintain a resistance to the military forces, focusing on food security and community life as preponderant factors in this context. The work initially outlines a general vision of the conflict, its particularities and part of the analysis of two authors who wrote and stayed in the Canudos region at the time of the war, in addition to visiting the main archives where the primary documentation is located, proceeding with the annotations with geographical references and chronological. In the end, he points out the factors that corroborate the importance of life in the community and the safety of food as an important factor in resistance.
