Abstract

In the ongoing struggle to ensure the right to education are social workers, whose political actions enabled the enactment of law 13,935/2019, which reaffirms the need for social workers in public basic education networks. Pondering basic education in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) and the aforementioned law, as a strategy to address social demands in education, is the objective of this article, whose objective is the performance of social services in education. It is a study with a qualitative approach, exploratory, descriptive and explanatory objectives, and bibliographic and documentary research procedures. This law increasingly stands out as relevant in the implementation of social workers in basic education, given the varied manifestations of the social issue present in educational institutions in the states and municipalities of Brazil.
