SEXUAL ABUSE IN MENTAL DISORDERS

Abstract

The scenario of violence in Brazilian society, is now seen as a public health case, impacting the health, especially with regard to mental health. Thus, it is evident the need to reflect the relationship between sexual violence and mental illness, considering that is a form of little apparent violence and very silenced. Objectives: The study has the objective, relate to sexual violence and its influence on mental disorders. Methodology: This article was made through a literature search in various databases, BVS, LILACS, SciELO, MEDLINE and PubMed, all articles were sought through indexed descriptors in Decs, the review method used was the narrative, thus did not seek to exhaust the databases. Results: 16 articles were listed for the proposed work, and these items were subdivided into the following categories. (1) embodied machism in the violence (2) Gender violence, rape and sexual abuse profile (3) Sexual violence and mental disorders. Final Thoughts: The articles reported the male's relationship to violence, children and adolescents as the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and a close relationship between sexual violence and depressive symptoms also post-traumatic stress disorder.
