THE CONDITION OF SOCIAL CLASS: THEORETICAL AND EXPLANATORY NOTES ON THE CONCEPT

Abstract

This is a theoretical essay, of literature review on the
social classes. It is based on the studies of national and international
authors based on the work of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
Therefore, they verify the validity of this concept in the social relations
of production and in the clash between the holders of the means of
production and those who only have their workforce to sell. The text
encompasses dif erent classifications of social classes, based on
particular criteria, such as income, property, rights and others, but
makes clear that it is the historical and structural context that is the
decisive explanatory element.
